Created in 1968 as a small “Njangi” saving scheme and later transformed into a credit union in 1971, it has as aim to provide financial services to its members.

Their motto is together we go places, moving people from poverty to riches, with a vision to aspire to be a leading provider of financial services while raising its balance sheet above the current 2.5 billion francs CFA registered.

They are special in that since its inception forty years ago, the Buea P&T Credit Union has witnessed a supersonic speed in its growth.

The Buea P&T Credit Union has built up the image that makes it the privileged non-deduction credit Union in the promotion of savings, loans and job creation in the Cameroon Cooperative Credit Union league (CAMCCUL), Fako Chapter of Credit Unions.

WOMEN COMMITTEE:
Women in the credit union consist of three categories: ordinary co-operators, Board / committee members and staff members. Women of the BPTCCUL have devised ways of income generation, which have allowed them to build financial security, which has in turn created life-changing opportunities for themselves and all the lives they touch.

YOUTH COMMITTEE:
The youth Committee is made up of three members, i.e. a Chair person, secretary and a member and its objectives are; to put resources together to see how old and new members can be brought into the Union. It targets both the young and the old at meeting houses, Njangi groups, workshops, job places, churches and even individuals on the street. It is also to sensitize yet to be members and existing members on the importance of the Credit Union.

Furthermore, it is not only to encourage members to open accounts or save regularly, but also to encourage them to be self employed and to alleviate them from poverty because the Youths are the “Nation Builders”.
