It is an institution authorized by the ministry of higher education. It was created through the ministerial order no 11/0041/MINESUP and authorized to start functioning through the ministerial order no 10/04333/L/MINESUP/DDESUP/SER and 12/0395.

This is an educational/professional establishment of excellence and innovation offering professional courses to students of higher levels.
In partnership with some international universities and other state universities and Higher institutions, our objective is to give support and enable students to participate in higher/professional education so that on completion of their studies. They are able to contribute to equality and social justice. We intend to achieve this by offering courses of the highest quality which meets the needs of students preparing for professional, national and international exams and also the needs of employers. We use professional lectures, small classroom sizes and exam oriented tuition to ensure that students achieve their full potentials and receive true value for money. We also ensure that study programs are systematically monitored and updated to incorporate new developments and theories.

The institution offers HND training programs in the following:

ACCOUNTANCY
This aims at training accounting technicians capable of providing assistance to:
- The accountant: in collecting and processing of information towards the preparation of the final accounts for internal and external purposes.
- The management: with costs and decision making information.
- The management: with audit evidence and supervisory service during internal audit activities.

BANKING AND FINANCE
This programs aims at training youths as well as workers capable of:
- Taking up employments as middle-level staff in banking and money exchange techniques and in banking management.
- Being rapidly operational with customer services, foreign transaction services and techniques used by savings and loans cooperative societies in the collection of savings in Cameroon, Africa and the world.

INSURANCE
This program trains students in the various areas of insurance and enables them to acquire skills to occupy both middle and executive positions in the insurance industry.

SECRETARIAL STUDIES, PUBLIC SERVICE AND ADMINISTRATION
This program aims at developing the ability to carry out efficiently secretarial duties in an organization. A sound knowledge of the firm and its legal environment. The ability to use office equipment for data processing and communication.

MANAGEMENT
This program enables students to achieve a spirit of responsibility, coordination, organization, leading and decision making. Students who through this training can work as branch managers, personnel mangers and team leaders, etc.

MARKETING
The marketing program covers the in-depth matter of application in theory, organization, practical and creative innovation of an industry or commerce. An HND holder in this program can work in an enterprise as a commercial agent, commercial manager, sales manger, sales agent, etc.
SCHOOL OF ELECTRONICS AND ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
This program trains students to become electrical engineers with special skills in thermodynamics, power systems, etc.

COMPUTER AND COMMUNICATIONS ENGINEERING
This trains students to become computer engineers with special skills in programming, maintenance, communication, etc.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Students from this department can work as personnel administrators, also responsible for the recruitment and selection of employees and taking care of employee welfare. They can also work as personnel managers.
The above programs are defined by the ministry of higher education and runs for a period of two years after which a student is allowed to sit for the exams.
At the end of the two years the student is expected to have completed and followed the common core courses and the specialized professional courses.

HIBMAT ALSO OFFERS BACHELORS AND MASTER DEGREES.
To enroll in the bachelors degree program a student must be a holder of the HND in the program and study for 1 year.
To enroll in the masters degree program a student must be a holder of the bachelors’ degree in the program and study for two years.

For a new student
1. Application fee of 15.000FCFA
2. A certified copy of birth certificate
3. A certified copy of Advance level or BACC or its equivalence
4. Photocopy of national identity card
5. 4-colored passport size photographs
